Dimensions Dance Theater and the Mo’Rockin Project present the world premiere of CATALYST: ONE BY ONE April 17, 2011

Acclaimed jazz trumpeter and composer Khalil Shaheed and noted Moroccan instrumentalist Yassir Chadly of the Mo'Rockin' Project team with world-renowned choreographer Deborah Vaughan to present CATALYST: ONE BY ONE. This timely and exciting collaboration sets the dynamism of Dimensions Dance Theater’s exhilarating choreography to Mo’Rockin Project’s traditional Moroccan melodies and American jazz themes, performed live onstage by some of America’s top musicians.

This thrilling new work embodies the power of art that can transform the individual, the community and the world. The extraordinary blending of traditional North African musical styles and American jazz and blues, as well as the melding of African, Jazz and contemporary dance idioms invites audiences to re-examine orthodoxy, revisit assumptions and exuberantly revel in the beauty of our differences.

The eight dancers plus a quartet of drummers, along with the legendary musicians of the Mo’Rockin Project band will sweep audiences off their feet in this electrifying celebration of tolerance and understanding.
