Digital Car Toys :
Digital Media takes Pimping Your Car to a Whole New Level

Digital technology is providing a whole new range of options for owners to outfit their cars. We are no longer talking about just pin stripping and carpets. Car owners can now choose from a slew of electronic options that include devices that allow iPods to play inside cars, portable rear-seat DVD players, personal navigation systems and new ways to start vehicles remotely.

This session will examine the wide range of Digital Car devices (a.k.a toys) that the consumer can acquire either from the dealer or in the after market. The panel will discuss not just the device options but also the impact on the distribution chain for car accessories and the future of the driving experience.

I had the pleasure of working with Peter while at Wind River. The concept of unwired vehicles is part of my recent post on community software development for embedded devices - a review of the first such project back in 1981.
