Digital by Design: Create & Debate is a must attend event for anyone who is interested in digital design. Wired Sussex and the University of Brighton will be running a Portfolio Clinic followed by a panel debate on 12th November at Brighton’s Corn Exchange. This two part event will feature some of the finest creative minds around to give feedback, initiate discussion and provide insight into the current and future state of UK design in the digital domain.

Debate: Design Panel

7 - 9pm

Effective design is crucial to the success of digital media. But what is effective design and how is it best taught? Our distinguished panel of business experts and academics will debate this issue with the aim of ensuring that Brighton’s reputation for delivering top digital design talent continues to grow. We will ask our panel and the audience to look at issues such as:

How important are professional digital design skills in a world where the DIY web culture dominates?
What does a designer have to know to be a really effective digital designer?
Is it possible to be truly creative and deliver a commercially successful digital presence?
We are very pleased that Lynda Relph-Knight (editor of Design Week) has agreed to chair the debate. The panel will include Andy Budd (director at web experts Clearleft), Paul Woodbridge (design director at games developers Relentless Software), Phil Taylor (coordinator of the Digital Media Design degree at the University of Brighton) and Kirk Woolford (senior lecturer in the Media and Film department at the University of Sussex).
