Catharine Clark Gallery announces two concurrent solo exhibitions of work by Andy Diaz Hope and Walter Robinson. The Video Project Room will feature "Gravity Loop," a new video by David Phillips and Paul Rowley.

Exhibition dates: 12 July - 25 August, 2007.
Reception: Saturday, July 14, 4 - 6pm.
Walter Robinson creates sculptural installations that deliver slick candy coated indictments on popular culture. In his exhibition "Represent," Robinson draws upon the coded signifiers of marketing techniques and reconstructs the appearance of recognizable logos and brands to shine a light on the nature of capitalism and consumer culture. Included in the exhibition is "Saint Sebastian," a life-sized rearing stallion in the form of the Ferrari logo shot through with arrows in the manner of a religious icon.

Andy Diaz Hope deconstructs his own digital photographs and reassembles the original image in a mosaic of gelatin pill capsules, each containing small portions from several original prints. As a continuation of his "Morning After Portraits" series, Diaz Hope has turned his lens on the hidden landscapes of drug culture. His exhibition "Better Living" references the promise offered by pharmaceutical companies, specifically science megacorp DuPont's ad slogan "Better Things for Better Living...Through Chemistry." All of the works in the exhibition are housed in self-made and precisely constructed acrylic and Plexiglas frames-this underlines the level of detail and meticulousness inherent in Diaz Hope's work.

"Gravity Loop" by David Phillips and Paul Rowley is a video work and a series of photographs that reconfigure a single image of a cuckoo clock to present multiple approaches to viewing time. Drawing upon references to theoretical physics and string theory, the artists have created a video that echoes notions of non linearity through repetitive visual imagery and is accompanied by a John Cage-inspired soundtrack performed by pianist Emily Manzo.
