Diana presents universal and personal iconography in her art. Her work represents a back-lash against the patriarchal depiction of women as weak and submissive as painted by white European men throughout male dominated art history. She appropriates from art history, however, in her paintings, women are the dominant figures while the males are shown as sexually passive archetypes.
