Their energetic live performances draw a lively crowd, with Mimi prancing around and growling like a French Ani Difranco, and Jeff doing his rhythmic hop-dance with the bass; Paget kicks out an infectious rhythm, while Gabe's husky voice and smooth rifts melt with Mimi's lush vocalizations...all to create one hot lively show, with lyrics both in English and French. With three fine songwriters, Free Peoples is an acoustic-electric quartet described as, "a sort of bluegrass/blues/jazz hybrid - great grooves, excellent arrangements, and Johnny Downer is a kickass lead guitar player." In addition to Downer, the band features Tim Sawyer on guitar and lead vocals, Michael Dipirro on bass and vocals and drummer James Foster.
