SummerTyne: Americana Weekend
Devon Sproule plus Woodpigeon

In her trademark vintage dresses and 50-year-old Gibson guitar, Devon Sproule combines Appalachian, folk and jazz influences (with a bit of bossa nova thrown in). The young singer-songwriter produces “beautifully sparse arrangements and melodies that surprise the ear when you first hear them, but which then get under your skin much more than anything more obvious would" (BBC). And Maverick Magazine describes her songs as “gorgeous laid-back Southern-tinged music. Very highly recommended for lovers of good songwriting and seriously sexy (or sexily serious) voices."

Support comes from Canadian collective Woodpigeon, who play “lushly orchestrated folk-pop, featuring wispy boy-girl harmonies” (The Guardian).

SummerTyne's Americana Weekend forms part of North East England’s world-class programme of festivals and events developed by culture10.
