BookExpo 2007

Hosted by Humber College and The Book and Periodical Council on June 8, 2007 at BookExpo Canada
this day-long conference will build on the success of the 2006 “Writers to Readers” and 2005 “New Face of Publishing” sessions.

This day-long conference will grapple with the issue of the tension between technology and creativity, between what is innovative and what is familiar, between democratic expression/dissemination and the need for standards, between “the gadget” and the beauty and enduring value of the physical book. Through speakers and panel discussions we will look at the implications of accessibility, democracy, control and diversity in a world where the future is now: where book printing machines can be located in bookstores or shopping malls, where writers can produce their own books, where publishing decisions may be made by communities of readers and distributed in the blink of an eye over the Internet.
