Monday, August 18 marks the launch date for Designing the Parks Online Forum. The goal of this forum is to provide an open venue to discuss the future of public parks. We are seeking the widest range of ideas and participation possible to inform Designing the Parks, Part 2 and the development of the design principles - the conferences' key product. We invite and encourage anyone with an interest in the issues surrounding parks and their policy, planning, and design to participate.

Each week an invited host will post a question or statement regarding an issue, challenge, or opportunity facing public parks. The hosts' role will be to moderate the discussion flow and provide a summary at the end of each week. We encourage you to engage in the dialogue by responding to the question, offering examples, suggestions, or visions for how parks should be in the 21st century. This is your opportunity to challenge current conventions, ask new questions, or engage in a dialogue around one particular point of interest. Visit the forum as often as you like - it will always be changing and new points of view expressed.

Make sure to submit your request to participate in the Designing the Parks Part II San Francisco Bay Area workshop - deadline is Sept 5 and online registration begins September 15!!!

Participation in Designing the Parks Part II is by request and space is
limited.  The workshop format for this session requires a very different
kind of input than a typical conference.  The goal of developing a product - draft design principles - involves an intensive effort of a manageable number of participants representing a cross-section of the disciplines, organizations, knowledge, and expertise concerned with park design, planning, and management. This pre-registration process will help us ensure that the conference participants represent this diverse group.
