Deliberative Democracy: the Internet and Civic Engagement March 25, 2010

Todd Gitlin , professor of journalism and sociology at Columbia University will be the Keynote speaker at 'Deliberative Democracy: The Internet and Civic Engagement.' The conference will center around the idea that a successful democracy relies its citizen's ability to form opinions and openly exchange their points of view. The panel includes Michael X. Delli Carpini , dean of the Annenberg School for Communication of the University of Pennsylvania; Sina Odugbemi , director of The World Bank's Communication for Governance and Accountability Program; and James MacMillan , professor of convergence journalism at the University of Missouri and former senior photographer at the Philadelphia Daily News.
