After nearly two years of planning, On Friday, May 5 from 6-9 p.m., the Donkey Gallery is finally proud to present:

Yellow Brick Road Kill: A show of Souvenirs, Decorations and Artificial Artifacts (or other objects of trivial intent) by Turquoise Trail-based artist Rick Phelps.

There are a lot of art events this Friday, but this one is not to be missed. Phelps makes intricate narrative installations using paper and recycled material in ways previously thought unimaginable. Yellow Brick Road Kill is a psychedelic road trip with no destination in mind, made by recycling paper, artistic conventions, and Phelps' neuroses in an effort to order and reassemble his world. The show will be a number of eclectic objects and images including an RV pi?ata.

Phelps has been showing in churches and bars, schools and hair salons, bathrooms and garage sales, flea markets and state fairs, the World Financial Center, weddings and parties, museums and theaters, store windows and nightclubs, diners and candy stores, and even galleries, since before 1983.

OPENING RECEPTION

The opening reception for this show will take place on Friday, May 5, 6-9 p.m. The reception will feature a live musical performance and our awesome deep fried trademarked goodies such as peanut butter stuffed jalapenos.

The gallery is located across from the Barelas Coffee House on 4th Street in Albuquerque.
