Debashish Bhattacharya shares the legacy of a timeless art
Edmonton Raga-Mala concludes its 2006 season with Indian classical guitar master Debashish Bhattacharya accompanied by Sutapa Bhattacharjee on vocals and Subhasish Bhattacharjee on tabla

In concert Saturday, September 30, 7:30pm
Royal Alberta Museum Auditorium, Edmonton
Debashish brings his own innovations to the slide guitar and playing techniques. From the age of 3, he started strumming a full size Hawaiian lap steel guitar, learning the rudiments of Indian classical music from his musical parents followed by in-depth lessons with, the pioneer of Indian slide guitar, Brij Bhushan Kabra, practicing 12 hours a day for 10 years.
Debashish is joined by his brother Subhasish and sister Sutapa who have gained instant popularity at festivals and performances.

Using the centuries-old raga tradition, Bhattacharya takes the listener to a place of deep emotional expression beyond the boundaries of time. - Acoustic Guitar Magazine
