Brookline Arts Center’s second floor photography gallery is filled with the light and color of spring, because of Deanna Christo’s exhibition Color Photography…Mostly Flowers. The exhibition presents new work by a Brookline photographer who came to the medium after she retired from a 34-year teaching career.
Christo says, “When I retired …I took up the habit of going for a walk everyday and I started to notice my surroundings in greater and greater detail.” Christo’s photos are inspired by the infinite variety of color, texture, beauty and detail that surround us at every moment.
The exhibition will be on view in Brookline from January 12 to February 26, 2010. There will be a free Opening Reception on Saturday, January 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. The Brookline Arts Center is located at 86 Monmouth Street, at the corner of St. Mary’s Street; the exhibition is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Christo will lead a free Photography Salon discussion group on Friday, February 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Photographers are encouraged to bring samples of their own work to share with the group to spur discussion of artistic and technical issues.
The salon is part of a continuing series of casual discussions for photographers at the Brookline Arts Center. Professionals, amateurs and anyone interested in photography are welcome, and encouraged to bring their work, both digital and film, for discussion.
The Brookline Arts Center is easily reached by public transportation: the photography salon will be wheelchair accessible. For more information, visit www.brooklineartscenter.com or call 617-566-5715.
