Kids of all ages will enjoy Golf Frisbee, “Rec in the Streets” games, as well as demonstrations of sepak takraw, a very popular Southeast Asian sport that is best described as a combination of soccer, volleyball and gymnastics, presented by the Lao-America Organization. Representatives from the Bandits will be on site with information about their upcoming season in their new home at Judson University in Elgin.

Guests will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Elgin community by touring the Westpoint Garden model homes. Eleven models will be open and filled with displays, giveaways and demonstrations from the City of Elgin, community and civic organizations, and area businesses. Food samples from several area restaurants will be featured throughout the patio areas of the model homes. Registration will be available in the Westpoint showroom for raffle drawings each hour throughout the event.

In addition to information from City of Elgin facilities and special events, other participating organizations will include area museums, local theatre and arts organization, the public library, schools, healthcare providers, local restaurants and area businesses from the Downtown Neighborhood Association and the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce. The League of Women Voters will be on site with voter registration available in the Camelot model home.

The City of Elgin Public Works department will host the Georgetown model home with a “green” theme, where residents will be able to pick up tips about saving energy and improving the environment. As part of that effort, the city will be distributing free energy efficient light bulbs to help residents get started saving energy in their homes.
