The Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM) and Reboot—a non-profit organization providing a forum to explore Jewish culture and traditions—announces DAWN '08, an all-night arts and cultural festival taking place Saturday, June 7, 2008, to celebrate the grand opening of San Francisco’s new Contemporary Jewish Museum and the Jewish holiday Shavuot.

With performances, films, special appearances, and installations taking place simultaneously throughout the Museum, DAWN ’08 will feature an evening packed with headlining performances and events including a Bay Area exclusive performance with Cambodian and American psychedelic pop sensation, Dengue Fever, and the rare opportunity to catch Jonathan Safran Foer, author of the international bestseller Everything Is Illuminated, in conversation, and a unique, late-night, live performance in front of a Jewish silent film.

The evening also includes theatrical and spoken word performances, premiere film screenings, visual arts, lectures, comedy, readings, open-space discussion forums, special guests AND the opportunity to explore the Museum’s stunning new, blue-steel clad building and its exhibitions before the doors open to the public the following morning.

Besides celebrating the opening of a new cultural institution in San Francisco, DAWN ’08 coincides with the Jewish Holiday Shavout, which commemorates the day the Torah was given to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai.
