At the age of eighteen, jazz guitarist David Rosenthal has had the honor to play with some of the biggest names in jazz including Oscar Peterson, Benny Golson, Dave Leibman, Al Jarreau, Jon Hendricks, Hank Jones, and Barry Harris, as well as some younger commercial artists including Coolio, the Neville Brothers, Kirk Whalum and Dave Koz. In 2005 and 2006, David was selected as the only high school guitarist from North America to participate in the Gibson/Baldwin GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles. BET featured the ensembles in four episodes that aired in 2006. David was also selected as one of only seven eighteen-year-old jazz musicians from around the world to be recognized as a 2007 NFAA Clifford Brown/Stan Getz fellow, where he won a silver medal. This all-star group performed at the 2007 NFAA ARTS Week in Miami, FL, the 2007 IAJE Conference in New York, and will perform this fall at the Monterey Jazz Festival. David Rosenthal's numerous performance opportunities have included the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angelos, the Vic in Santa Monica, the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, the pre and post parties to the 2005 and 2006 GRAMMY awards, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Lincoln Center, the Hartford Jazz Festival, and four sold out shows at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, MA. David recently recorded and released his debut CD Speak To Me featuring his original compositions, performed with Jamire Williams on drums, Earl Travis on bass, and Christian Sands on piano. David is currently enrolled at the Manhattan School of Music where he studies under the tutelage of Rodney Jones.
