Join Amoeba Berkeley and Death Rock Dive Bar in welcoming David J and his special guest Jill Tracy. Their limited edition 7″ (in collaboration with SHOK) will be released on November 2nd by Saint Rose Records.

David J is a founding member of Bauhaus, one of the most influential British bands of the 1980s. After their split in '83, he joined up with The Jazz Butcher for a brief stint, producing and playing in the group. Then came Love and Rockets, another highly successful outfit who scored a gold record with their first release, Ball of Confusion. Bauhaus reunited to play the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in 2005. The performance attained legendary status, and the band went on to complete a successful world tour and to record a new album.

David J has released several solo albums that have garnered much critical acclaim, such as writer Matt Hoffman's description of him as "one of the great songwriters of recent times." He has also collaborated with various other artists, such as The Master Musicians of Jajouka, celebrated graphic novelist Alan Moore, renowned author Hubert Selby, Jr., producer/musician T Bone Burnett, MC5 founder Wayne Kramer, producer Hal Wilner, poet/painter/broadcaster Rene Halkett, poet Jeremy Reed, Mexico's innovative electronica pioneers the Nortec Collective, and legendary reggae artist U-Roy. David J also co-wrote "Strays," the title track of the Jane's Addiction album. (Perry Farrell describes him as the "avant of the avant-garde.")

His current live show "Bouquets, Wreaths and Laurels" features piano, upright bass, and violin with David J on vocals. In this captivating cabaret style show, which spans his career and influences, he embraces the role of noir crooner, inhabiting the world of the songs and relishing his role as band leader and narrator.

Also catch David and Jill on November 6th at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco.
