David Bromberg began studying guitar at age 13 after being inspired by the music of Pete Seeger, the Weavers and others. After high school, Bromberg enrolled in the musicology program at Columbia University. He left Columbia in the middle of his second year to devote his time to his music. His extraordinary guitar picking and exceptional stylistic range brought him to the attention of many other musicians, such as Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, John Hurt, Reverend Gary Davis, Tom Paxton, Chubby Checker and more. In all, he has played as a sideman on over 100 albums.
Jorma Kaukonen has been the leading practitioner and teacher of fingerstyle guitar, one of the most highly respected interpreters of American roots music, blues, and Americana, and at the forefront of popular rock-and-roll. He was a founding member of Hot Tuna and The Jefferson Airplane, a Grammy nominee, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the most in-demand instructor at the Fur Peace Ranch Guitar Camp. In addition, Kaukonen has recorded more than a dozen solo albums on major labels and on his own.
