As a consistent poll-topping bassist, bandleader, and recording artist Holland is the one of the most renowned jazz figures of his generation. Gaining notice in the mid-'60s with the innovative bands of Miles Davis, Holland has become one of the most recorded instrumentalists of the past three decades. His own ensembles feature the leader's distinctive arrangements and a cast of some of the jazz world's most exciting improvisers.
