We make our music from the sounds I heard growing up in Topsy, Louisiana. Topsy sits at the corner of three parishes--Jefferson Davis, Allen, and Calcasieu--and aint nobody claims her. At my Maw-Maw's I heard Hank Williams, Red Foley, and Ray Price, singing gospel songs side by side with sorry tales of life in the honkytonks. At my Momma's I heard Merle Haggard and Charlie Pride. At Chris Francois's house I heard Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, and Kiss. When I was 22, hanging out with accordionist Hank Theriot, I heard BooZoo Chavis, and Nathan Abshire, and I heard Swamp Pop with Charles Mann and Little Alfred.
