DARREN HAYMAN

"Darren Hayman used to be in Hefner who were Britain's Largest Small Band 1996 - 2002. In that time Darren recorded 12 radio sessions for John Peel and continues to release solo and band albums at a rate of knots. This year he has released three albums already, a compilation of Great British Holiday EPs, a 2CD re-release of the classic Fidelity Wars album and an album by his bluegrass band Hayman, Watkins, Trout and Lee. Darren will perform with a full band and play songs from throughout his career."

ESIOTROT

Formed late 2003/early2004 (can't really remember!) Esiotrot started as a four piece consisting of Adrian Fleet, Catherine Loye, Duncan Barrett and Matthew Rains. They have released a self titled (lazy) ep in 2005 made of pretty much the first songs they ever made up, other than a couple that have since disappeared into the ether. It was pretty rough and jangly. Early 2006 Thomas Stimson joined the band ..boards and glockenspiel as the band looked to fill out the sound a little more, which seemed to work ok. They had a few more songs that were filled out with keyboards and then wrote a few extra with Thomas contributing for the off. They took these songs to a studio early 2006 and made the album Schmesiotrot. There was still something missing, and, as Duncan, Thomas and Adrian were all living with John and Thom they'd occasionally jam with us in their basement on trumpet and trombone. They liked this so much they asked them to join the band. They added parts to a handful of songs on Schmesiotrot, which finally saw the light of day (officially) in January 2007. In August 2006 they were spotted by one Alistair Fitchett at the Betsey Trotwood, who liked there show and they rough copy of the album so much he asked to release an ep, which also came out in January 2007. They are currently writing new songs, not sure what/when for yet. How boring was that?

HEXICON

Mike, Paul and Tom started Hexicon in 2004, beginning life as a lo-fi voice/guitar/french horn combo. Brief sojourns to Wales and regular slots in both London and in Kent has since resulted in the band sharing bills with the likes of Bert Jansch, Fanfarlo, Super Furry Animals, Fuzzman, Mystery Jets, Fireworks Night, James Yuill and Esiotrot.. More recently, Hexicon have expanded to accommodate a new rhythm section, with Greg and Andy joining on drums, and Giles playing bass. Tom has been carving a reputation as a jobbing indie Horn player, featuring on the most recent releases by Darren Hayman and Rotifer and performing live with Mathew Sawyer and the Ghosts. In April we visited Soup Studios to record a single with Simon Trought. 'Narissa I Won't', is going to be backed with a reinvented live favourite, 'Sweet Things' as the B-side. The single will be followed by the first Hexicon album, to be released on the Mentalist Association label later this year! They recorded in Gillingham with Greg Webster, and are working on the last few bits at the Bunker in London.

BEACON

Beacons is the song-writing pseudonym of Craig Gell. Based in South East London, Beacons started out in 2006 as a series of home recordings of mildy psychedelic folk songs, featuring various collected instruments and found sounds.
Occasionally performed live by a small collective of musical friends.
