Daria Fain
BEGGING #1

Performed in the DNA Lobby
September 8-14
12:00-7:30pm
No reservations required

Daria Faïn’s BEGGING #1 is a public hunger strike, performance and meditation that delves into the current arts funding crisis and the inequity of the US economy. This weeklong, 8 hour/day installation posits that performance is a direct service to society and that the allocation of money in relationship to performance should be to extend the boundaries of human potential. Bridging the practice of begging in the monastic tradition with the realities of poverty and the artist’s struggle to fund her art-making, BEGGING #1 is an evolving public document, an open space for reflection, conversation, collaboration and real change.
