We invite you to embark on a cultural journey through dance, music, and the mystique of the East.

A surprising musical revolution is taking place in Southern California. Just as Seattle launched grunge, or Detroit was the home of Motown, San Diego is making its mark on the world belly dance scene with Danyavaad and The Shimmy Sisters setting a shining path.

Danyavaad means 'thank you' in Hindi. The band plays live original Middle Eastern flavored music featuring the electric sitar and tribal drum beats. Danyavaad creates an atmosphere of Middle Eastern lounge mixed with Indian vibes and rock. The unique songs of Danyavaad are originals by San Diego's Guitarmageddon Champion Greg Vaughan, tribal drummer Gabriel Penix, and DJ/bassist Sandy Bagri.

The Shimmy Sisters (Leilainia and Adelaide) inspire audiences young and old with their multi-media extravaganza. This award winning duet (Ultimate Troupe Hips Of Fury 2006 and People's Choice Bellydancer of the Universe Troupe 2007) often includes snakes, swords, candles, fire, isis wings, glow hula hoops, and traditional belly dance props such as veils and zils.

On Dec 5, 2008 they will be releasing their first long awaited CD/DVD! This is a two disc set - a 10 song CD and a DVD full of music videos, dance lessons, guitar/drum/bass lessons, pictures, and much more.
Enjoy Danyavaad and The Shimmy Sisters at their resident venue Portugalia, an authentic Portuguese restaurant transformed into a Moroccan den for the evening.
Special guests featured will be bellydancer Jessenia and Brianna, and guest musicians Zoe of Tragic Tantrum Cabaret, Marie Haddad, Frank Lazarro and Robert Roltzer of Middle Earth, Rama of UBUV, Matt Roth of the Orphics and much more!
