Danspace Project: Lionel Popkin May 28, 2009

Set around an enormous elephant costume, There Is An Elephant In This Dance invites a closer look at how seemingly-trivial, self-imposed constraints reveal the shifting states between discipline and freedom. Lionel Popkin will be joined by Carolyn Hall, Ishmael Houston-Jones, and 33 Fainting Spells alum Peggy Piacenza. The piece features costumes by Jean Landry, lighting by Kathy Kaufmann, and original music performed live by composer/cellist/vocalist Robert Een.
