Egyptian journalist Amr Emam, the 2007 Daniel Pearl Fellow, will share his experience in America on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the Los Angeles Press Club. Reception at 7:00 p.m., discussion at 7:30 p.m.

Amr is a graduate of the University of Cairo and works as a reporter for the Egyptian Gazette. From March to August this year, he has been working at the San Francisco Chronicle as a Daniel Pearl Fellow, in partnership with the Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships.

Moderator Rob Eshman, Editor in Chief, The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles, will lead a discussion with Amr on how America is viewed from abroad, especially in Egypt and other Muslim countries, and how his personal experience fits those views. Judea and Ruth Pearl will join Amr on the panel to answer questions on their experience with Jewish-Muslim dialogue and the journalism exchange program.
