Dancing at Dusk: Italian Folk Song and Dance July 27, 2011

Come to Caramoor for an evening of fun with the kids! Bring a picnic, spread out a blanket, and enjoy great music together. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to dance to live music, interact with the musicians, get to know their instruments, and ask questions. This is a wonderful way to have your child introduced, up close, to music in a relaxed and joyful way. Activities will be designed for toddlers as well as pre-teens.

Reviving the old traditions of southern Italian music, theatre, & dance, I Giullari di Piazza will present a dazzling program featuring stilt dancing, drumming, and a dizzying variety of instruments that will have you swooning in the summer sun. Led by founder and artistic director Allesandra Belloni (mezzo-soprano, Southern Italian percussion, ritual dance) and featuring Joe Deninzon on electric & acoustic violin and John La Barbera on classical guitar, renaissance folk guitar, and mandolin, this Dancing at Dusk will whisk you away to the lush surroundings of Southern Italy for a perfect summer evening of fun and enchantment.
