DanceWorks presents blackandblue dance projects
The future memory heartbreak junction, Diptych

DanceWorks, the city's longest running contemporary dance series, presents The future memory heartbreak junction, Diptych, a fearlessly intimate and candid double-portrait of fatal love choreographed and performed by Sasha Ivanochko, Artistic Director of blackandblue dance projects and one of Canada’s most accomplished dancers. This dramatic diptych runs Thursday November 4 to Saturday November 6 at Harbourfront Centre's Enwave Theatre.

Sensual and cinematic, The future memory heartbreak junction is told in two parts – the first, a solo which premiered in 2008 at Dancemakers Centre for Creation in Toronto, reveals a torch singer trapped in a mysterious landscape, reliving a lifetime of heartbreaks and triumphs. The second, a new duet with Brendan Wyatt (2010 Dora Award winner) that Ivanochko created as a response to the solo – introduces the singer’s heartbreak man and in doing so explodes the assumptions made in watching the solo.

"A remarkable, emotionally naked portrait... one of the finest works WCD (Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers) has presented in recent seasons..." Allison Mayes, Winnipeg Free Press
