The enthusiastic response to the dance workshop, Space Travel, conducted by Sanjukta Wagh in July, has inspired yet another freewheeling movement workshop for kids. This will be conducted by classical and contemporary dancer Neha John, with inputs from Sanjukta Wagh. The second workshop will deepen the enquiry of the earlier counterpart: In what language does your body speak? If it were to discover its own tongue, what would it sound like? How would it choose to move? Here's a workshop that doesn't impart a style, a grammar, a technique. There's no Bharata Natyam, no bhangra and no Bollywood dance. It looks at dance simply as a body moving in space. And in the process, it guarantees all participants a whale of a time. Children will be encouraged to discover their own accents, their own dictions, their own body-signatures. The emerging kinetic languages will be varied, but are guaranteed to be alive, energetic, expressionistic, discovered and unfailingly, surprising.
