This June, Dance Continuum SF (DCSF) proudly presents "Life, Love and Rituals," their fourth annual season concert with five world premieres. Co-artistic directors Peter Litwinowicz and Jose Ivan Ibarra touch the heart with dramatic expression, fill the eyes with architectural shapes, and affirm the soul that movement has a profound and deep meaning in our everyday lives. The dances, scripts and films are framed with lyricism, tenderness, humor and passion.

The pieces:
"Alone, but not always lonely" by Peter Litwinowicz. This piece explores the notion of whether we feel alone within our relationships to others, and whether being alone is necessarily the same thing as being lonely. The dance utilizes a triptych of human-sized screens on which film is projected that act as mirrors of the performers' inner thoughts.

"Rituals" by Peter Litwinowicz. This piece explores rites and traditions using movements that are updated, abstracted and stylized.

Cafe o Canela by Jose Ivan Ibarra. This dance is a theatrical piece that utilizes the traditional Bolero as its music to help present a story of a life void of passion and true emotions. I

"Love, Shirley" by Jose Ivan Ibarra. This dance is a technical, expressive and humorous trio for two women and a man. The dancers poke humor at the oldest profession with precise, fluid and provocative movements. The focus of this work is the search of love and what some people will do to try to obtain it.

"Blue Picasso" by Jose Ivan Ibarra. The dance is a sculptural work featuring five characters from Picasso's painting. Taken from his Blue and Rose periods, the characters come together in a circus atmosphere and intermix with one another to tell the story of young girls love, her life and her family. The atmosphere is partly created by the music of Brazilian composer Hector Villalobos.
