For 12 years the S.S. France ruled the Atlantic. Withdrawn in 1974, she was laid up and scrapping seemed inevitable. But five years later, Norwegian Caribbean Lines needed a fifth vessel, so founder/owner Knut Kloster bought the moribund ocean liner and transformed her into the cruise ship Norway.
