Representing all of North Texas and the entire DFW Metroplex, the area’s first and largest All Female Flat Track Roller Derby league, the Dallas Derby Devils, are proud to announce the opening of their 2011 Roller Derby Season! The season will kick off with an unprecedented trio of bouts. Cross-town travel leagues, two teams with a good chance of winning their first championship, and a defending championship team will start things off with a bang! The first night of the season will undoubtedly be filled with so much excitement and fast-paced derby action that it should come with a warning label!
The Dallas Derby Devils welcome, from downtown Dallas, the Assassination City Roller Derby travel team, Special Ops. This cross town rivalry is full of mixed emotions. Girls from both leagues who have skated together will now face off when the whistle blows. It’ll be a love / hate bout you can’t miss. If that isn’t enough heart-pounding action the dangerous divas of the Dallas Derby Devils’ home teams will then take to the floor as the Death Row Rumblers square off against the Wrecking Crew, both teams with a good shot at the 2011 championship. Then the rough and tumble Suicide Shifters take the first crack at the 2010 defending champions, the ever quick and agile High Seas Hotties. It will be a derby night to remember!
Derby fans from across all of North Texas will be in attendance for this event and with every season opener in Dallas Derby Devil history being sold out; the 2011 opener is already shaping up to be THE Derby Event of 2011. Get your tickets NOW at http://www.derbydevils.com.

The competition will take place at NYTEX Sports Centre (8851 Ice House Road, North Richland Hills). Doors open at 5:30pm and the action will start at 6:00pm. Get there early if you want a trackside seat but don’t forget to BYOC (bring your own chair) or enjoy the great views from the stadium style seats! This bout will sell-out, so get your tickets to this PG-13 event in advance for only $12 if purchased from your favorite derby girl at any preceding DDD public event (listed on www.derbydevils.com) or $13 on their website through Pay-Pal. If available, tickets at the door will be $15. Kids 10 and under are free. Enjoy the ZuRomas $1.00 “derby draft” beers and $1.50 select cans from trackside. You can’t buy a good six-pack for any cheaper than that!
When not at practice, the Devils continue the business of promoting and growing the league across North Texas. Clearly DDD discovered a formula for success and are becoming stronger every season. They are now heading into their seventh year of existence. The league is the largest of its kind in the North Texas area boasting the largest roster of active skaters, over 125 at last count. Volunteers are welcome. Security, production help, track maintenance, and merchandisers are a just few of the open positions. The league’s sponsorship drive remains underway to defray the operating costs. Sponsors get bragging rights about being part of the derby revival at a ground level as they help the Dallas Derby Devils support worthy causes; a portion of all proceeds are donated to local charities.

The Devils choose a different charity to support for each bout and this bout the organization to benefit from the generosity of the Dallas Derby Devils is Camp-i-Thonka Chi. The annual burn camp’s name translates to "a place that makes one strong or fearless, not afraid to face life". Sponsored by Parkland Memorial Hospital it is among approximately 32 such camps nationwide which are designed to address issues specific to burn injuries. The camp is an opportunity for the children and teens to interact with others who have been burned. They see that they're not alone. They can be open with each other and share what they're going through. Interaction with other children who have been burned increases self-esteem through participation in confidence-building activities with people who accept them as they are. A 10-year-old Dallas boy who attended Parkland's first burn camp several years ago returned home "a more confident and independent child who seems to feel genuinely good about himself," his mother said. Despite support from school mates regarding his injuries, many still ask, "what happened to you," and stare. Camp i-Thonka Chi is a charity DDD supports annually due to the camp’s close relationship with the league’s beloved Staff Medic, “Rebel With All the Gauze”, Wind & Fire MC and Camp-i-Thonka Chi supporter. The Dallas Derby Devils would like to encourage donations and ask everyone to visit http://www.parklandburncamp.org/ for more information.
