Dafnis Prieto Si O Si Quartet October 10, 2009

Born in Cuba and a New York resident for the past decade, drummer and composer Dafnis Prieto has already established a unique voice as a leader after three albums under his own name. His CD'Absolute Quintet' was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2006 and he received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2007. He is also known for his work as a sideman with musicians such as Steve Coleman, Henry Threadgill, Eddie Palmieri, and Michel Camilo, among others. An outgrowth of the Sextet that recorded last year's acclaimed album 'Taking the Soul for a Walk,' his new Si o Si Quartet demonstrates Prieto's extraordinary talents as a composer and bandleader.
