The Czech Centre in Brussels and the cinema STYX with the support of the Central Bohemia Region and the Region of Pardubice are opening a series of current Czech films which deal with the issues of contemporary society and show them through the eyes of Czech filmmakers after 1989.
We made a selection of nine of the most interesting film creations after 1989 which deal with issues known to people all around the world – coming to terms with past, social issues such as drugs, love relationships, marginalized groups – all mixed in both drama and comedy. These will be shown every last Monday of the month at the cinema STYX for a great price of € 3,50.
The series will open on January 30th with a film „Citizen Havel“ which narrates the incredible story of the Czechoslovak and then Czech President Václav Havel in a time-lapse manner following his steps during his 13 years as president. The screening will commemorate the recent death of Václav Havel on December 18, 2011.
