"Three sterling musicians" (Philadelphia Daily News)

Classical music lovers are in for a treat on Monday, March 9 when Ida Levin, Peter Stumpf, and Cynthia Raim perform a program of Schnittke, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, and Arensky at the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater.

Ida Levin, hailed for her "affecting intensity" by The New York Times, began her violin studies at the age of three, making her professional debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at ten. Since her Carnegie Hall debut as soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra, she has made solo appearances with the New York String Orchestra under Alexander Schneider at both Carnegie Hall and Washington's Kennedy Center, with the orchestras of St. Louis, Utah and Los Angeles and with the Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra, among many others. Recently, Ms. Levin gave the world premiere of Leon Kirchner's Duo for Violin and Piano with Jeremy Denk and recorded the work for Marlboro Recording Society.

Joining Ida Levin: Peter Stumpf, principal cello of the Los Angels Philharmonic since 2002. Bringing his "faultless technique and panache" (Symphony Orchestra Reviews) to each performance, Stumpf is a member of the Johannes Quartet, having also been a chamber music partner of the Emerson String Quartet and such eminent artists as Emanuel Ax, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and Mitsuko Uchida. Stumpf has appeared as soloist with the Boston Symphony, the Virginia Symphony and the Aspen Festival Orchestra. Thirdly is pianist Cynthia Raim, who's playing inspired the American Record Guide to proclaim "it doesn't get better than this!" Raim, a graduate of Curtis Institute, has collaborated with David Soyer, Samuel Rhodes, and the Guarneri and Johannes Quartets, among others. Annually, she gives recitals throughout the world, participating in many leading international music festivals such as Marlboro, Ravinia, Mostly Mozart and Santa Fe.
