When the hapless star of a Broadway musical dies on opening night, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi arrives on the scene to conduct an investigation. The lure of the theatre, however, proves irresistible and the stage-struck detective finds himself drawn to making the show a hit as he attempts to solve the murder.
