The legendary roots reggae band, now fronted by the incredible voice of Kenyatta Hill, bring their much loved and potent songs to Band on the Wall.

Originally fronted by the voice of Joeseph Hill, Culture remain one of the original and best Jamaican roots reggae bands playing today. With politically-charged lyrics and an international outlook they rose to prominence in the 1970s where they were embraced by both the vibrant reggae and punk scenes of the time. A huge fan was John Peel who championed their string of intelligent, powerful and immensely catchy hits included the Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson produced See Dem A Come and the mighty Two Sevens Clash.

Kenyatta Hill’s career began the day his father’s ended. Joseph Hill, singer and songwriter for Culture, collapsed and died while on a 2006 tour of Europe.

To the amazement of promoters, fans and critics alike, Kenyatta stepped in immediately to fill his shoes and delivered electrifying performances time and again – nineteen shows in all – until the 2006 tour was complete. Kenyatta gave of himself so totally – as his father had for so many years – that the two seemed to become one, the eerily similar voices and the vibes igniting the critics and yielding a new reggae mantra “magic, not tragic!” Kenyatta has carried the torch for his father alongside Culture ever since and they have established themselves as one of the most vibrant live reggae bands aound.
