Alan LeQuire’s bronze doors welcome our patrons to the Main Library on Church Street. This exhibit is a series of oversized portrait heads. The five people currently represented in the sculptures so far are Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Leadbelly, Paul Robeson, and Woody Guthrie.

Join us at the Main Library for a multi-generational celebration of cultural heroes and heroines. The event will combine: sculptures from the exhibit Cultural Heroes by Alan LeQuire; stories of inspiration that take readers on an intimate journey filled with defining moments of strength and conviction; live music performances that inspire the soul; crafts that involve creating your own cultural hero portrait, comic strip, or flip book. Refreshments will be served.

Come learn more about Alan LeQuire’s work at the library by touring the Main Library. Attendees are welcome to tour Nashville on their own to look at Mr. LeQuire’s other local artwork, such as the Parthenon’s Athena, and are invited to visit his studio from 1-3 pm.
