CUBELab, running alongside CUBEOpen, will act as a platform to support last year’s winner Andrea Booker. Booker's work concerns themes of social identity and its relationship to our urban environment. Using reclaimed and abandoned commercial signage salvaged from buildings in Manchester and Salford Andrea Booker supplants the original and intended message though retains its connotative one and in doing so makes a statement about social identity and displacement.
