Families from all over the Bay Area flock to Crowden Music Center's annual free musical carnival, Community Music Day, for a whole day of musical fun and exploration.

Featuring:

Very First Concerts: "What Does a Conductor Do?"
The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra performs short and engaging programs based on the musical theme "What Does a Conductor Do?" Unravel the mystery of the maestro in this 20-minute concert designed for our youngest listeners. What's the magic in that little wooden stick, and why is that guy standing in front of all those musicians in the first place? Come find out! Tumbling mats for wriggling toddlers, short selections, and hands-on musical activities make this the perfect way to introduce the youngest children to the joys of live classical music. Repeat performances at 11:00 am, 11:40 am, 12:20 pm.

Instrument Petting Zoo
Kids and adults alike explore, touch, and learn to make sounds on all the different instruments in a symphony orchestra! We even have special miniature string instruments for tiny hands and fingers.

Musical performances by kids, for kids (including Crowden School students and San Francisco Girls Chorus!)
