From Society’s Child to Folk Legend, singer/songwriter Janis Ian will present an intimate evening of music and memories at a cabaret-style benefit performance on Saturday, March 28, 2009 for Crossroads, a children’s behavioral health organization in Lake County.

“Crossroads Carousel Cabaret Featuring Janis Ian” will be held at the Quail Hollow Resort in Concord. Ian will perform original works including her Grammy-winning hits “Society’s Child,” “Jesse” and “At Seventeen.” She will also be available at a post-event reception to autograph her recent autobiography, “Society’s Child: My Autobiography” and her latest CD, “The Best of Janis Ian: The Autobiography Songs.”

The evening will begin at 5:30 with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner in the Grand Ballroom. The concert will feature intimate staging with Ian performing on guitar. Tickets will be available for sale on January 1. Tickets are $125 per person. VIP tickets, at $150 per person, will also include a post-concert reception where guests will have an opportunity to meet the star up close and personal.

All proceeds will go to support arts therapy and the newly created A+ Program for autistic children at Crossroads. This fall Crossroads, a behavioral health organization for children and adolescents, opened its first classroom for autistic children. The new program is designed to help ease the transition from elementary school to middle school for children with autism spectrum disorders. It is an addition to existing to elementary, middle-school and high-school programs at the Crossroads Therapeutic School, formally known as the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Crossroads serves more than 19,000 children and their families every year.
