Creative Networks February 26, 2009

Creative Networks is an exciting and popular peer-to-peer networking event that aims to bring together the many professional practices that make up the sector – film, graphics, animation, fashion, textiles, music, performance – to name but a few.

As the most well attended event of its kind, Creative Networks has been established to nurture creative talent from across the region, and to foster partnerships and collaboration.

With a mixture of high profile speakers from the worlds of the creative, digital, and cultural industry sectors, these events provide the opportunity to rub shoulders with the movers and shakers across the Yorkshire and Humber regions.

Events are held on the last Thursday of each month at the Leeds College of Art & Design in conjunction with partners; the Elsie Whitely Innovation Centre and the West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network.

This month's Creative Networks Speaker:

Frazer Irving, Award Winning, International Comic-Book Artist, Illustrator, and Musician, has in his own words, “spent 5 years in poverty working for peanuts as a security guard at the Royal Academy and selling sex toys via mail order before getting a lucky break drawing comics for 2000AD”.

Since then he has drawn for all the big shots in comics and travelled the world where he has, “met and mated with the most awesome people on the planet”.

A highly entertaining speaker, Irving will take us through a journey that will cover everything from Gene Pitney to 2000AD, Marvel and Judge Dredd, stopping briefly with Simon Pegg’s, ‘Shaun of the Dead’ !!
