The Ellen Crane Memorial Room provides a meditative seating and special events area with original 1930s design features, materials, and furniture intact. Built in 1937 in what was once an open courtyard, the Crane Room walls are English brown oak, and the floor is rubber tile. The fountain and its surround, made of Swedish green and Georgia rosepia marble, were designed by noted Beaux Arts sculptor A. Stirling Calder, father of Alexander Calder. The fountain was restored in 2008 and is functioning once again after many idle years. The New York firm of Miss Gheen, Inc. designed the furniture, working with architect Robert B. O'Connor.
