“Cousins in Clay”:Come for the Day--Come for the Weekend – A Sale of Contemporary Ceramic Art in Seagrove, NC. The annual Cousins in Clay will be held at two pottery locations 5 miles apart. Seagrove Potters Bruce Gholson & Samantha Henneke (3306 US Hwy 220) / Fred Johnston & Carol Gentithes (249 East Main St.) will be hosting studio potters Michael Kline, Allison McGowan, and Val Cushing at their Seagrove studios. Kline a “clay cousin” from Bakersville/NC is known for his floral brush imagery that gracefully wraps around his pottery forms. McGowan a “clay cousin” from Concord/NC hand-builds tailored forms with luminous glazes over textured surfaces. Professor Emeritus Cushing a “clay cousin” from Alfred/NY makes strong and harmonious functional pottery forms that are inspired by nature. This is a wonderful time to meet the potters, ask questions, and add to your pottery collection or begin one.

Gain insights into the work and activities of the potters at their individual blogs. Michael Kline writes: "Sawdust and Dirt": at michaelklinepottery.blogspot.com and Samantha and Bruce writes: "Around and About with Bulldog": at bulldogpottery.blogspot.com.

There is plenty to do in Seagrove after visiting with these nationally recognized studio art potters. Pick up a Seagrove map and plan on staying some extra time to tour the Seagrove Pottery Community, including the North Carolina Pottery Center.
