Counting Crows originated in Berkeley, California, and gained popularity in 1994 following the release of its debut album 'August and Everything After,' which featured the hit single 'Mr. Jones.' The band's influences include Van Morrison, R.E.M., Nirvana, Bob Dylan, and The Band. They received a 2004 Academy Award nomination for the song 'Accidentally in Love.' Fronted by Adam Duritz, they wow audiences with their energetic, passionate live shows, frequently improvising on stage, adding new twists to familiar songs. Influenced by soul, jazz, rock and pop Sara's writing is bold, honest and edgy. Her sound has been described as everything from Norah Jones to Joni Mitchell, Fiona Apple to Alicia Keys. Maroon 5's current infusion of R&B, jazz, funk and alternative rock gives the group a sound like no other.
