The World Famous Count Basie Orchestra has collaborated with multi- Grammy™ nominated vocalist Nnenna Freelon to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Count Basie’s birth and 75 years of The World Famous Count Basie Orchestra. Freelon tips her hat to the fantastic vocalists who have performed with the orchestra in the past, including Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughans. The Count Basie Orchestra is one of the most thriving big bands in history, having been awarded 17 Grammys over the years. The present-day Count Basie Orchestra is led by long-time trombonist Bill Hughes and includes 19 performers: 17 sidemen, 1 vocalist and 1 bandleader. Multi-generational musical genius, sensitive melodic renderings, and powerhouse swing - this show is truly a tribute to the legacy of Count Basie!
