Have you every wanted to build a project, but could not find the tool you needed to do it? TechShop is a large membership-based workshop that provides members with access to tools and equipment, instruction, and a creative and supportive community of like-minded people so you can build the things you have always wanted to make.

The First Techshop ( http://www.techshop.ws ) was opened in 2006 in Menlo Park. A new Techshop facility is openning in Portland. ( http://portland.techshop.ws ) They have recently made progress on a lease in Beaverton and are looking at potential satellite sites.

There has been discussion for several years around the idea of something like this in the Corvallis area. I have talked to Denny Cole, the person coordinating the Portland Techshop. He is willing to come down to corvallis and give a presentation about Techshop and discuss the possibilities of something like this in Corvallis.

My goal is to see if we have critical mass that would make it possible for us to develop and support a local Techshop. If you are interested, please sign up for attending the meeting and sign up for the mailing list
