Corsica And The Rivieras with Stan Walsh

Corsica...an island footprint in the Mediterranean with its big toe pointing north to the French Riviera and Italy's Riviera di Oriente. We will explore all three...rugged historic Corsica and the glittering coastline of the Italian and French Riviera. In Calvi sharing a digital laptop sandwich and sensing the charm of people and places.

Travel along route nationale N193 through the high mountainous hinterland of Corsica. Bashia, Corte, Ajaccio...the impressive Pont du Vecchiu road and railway bridges. Gustave Eiffel designed the RR bridge in 1825. The artistic road bridge was done in 1999.

Breakfast with British trekkers in Bocognano...Bashia. Cap Corse...with watchtowers guarding the coast. Napoleon’s Elbe in the boyhood home of Columbus. Ride the CFC narrow gauge railway via Ponte Leccia to Calvi which also claims Columbus to be a native son. A wild ride back to Ponte Leccia to journey along the Gravone to Ajaccio, capital city of Corsica. The ghost of Napoleon hovering at dusk. Stroll through the open-air market. The town hall museum and the Emperor's memorabilia. Filitosa Stone bridge...Aleria. Mariana, Roman Legion retirement village. Rugged west coast Les Calanques surging straight out of the sea. Tortoise sanctuary 125 species from 5 continents. Gulf of St. Floren and abandoned aggregate desert. Bed and Breakfast at Bonifacio...dancers from nearby Sardinia. Choppy seas to the legendary Cannes on the French Riviera.

Stan Walsh has a flair for excellence and a taste for the unknown. He shares his passion for far-away places with travel-film audiences all over America. He is noted for his in-depth photo-journalism. Painstaking research and imaginative camera work add excitement to Stan's programs.
