New dance works from treasured Portland choreographers Sarah Slipper, Carla Mann, Minh Tran, Tracey Durbin, Kemba Shannon and Andrea Parson created and performed to the live evocative jazz of Blue Cranes + Al's studio-made, sweet wassail and special treats… About Northwest Dance Project: Founded in Portland in 2004 by award-winning choreographer Sarah Slipper, Northwest Dance Project has become a leader in the creation and premiere of inspired new dance works with 100 original contemporary ballet works from international choreographers. NWDP's dynamic, classically-trained company has been described as "virtually flawless," "fierce" and "beautiful." The quintet (alto and tenor saxophones, upright bass, keyboardist and drummer) has released three full length albums to date and the band members also share their chops with such notable bands such as The Decemberists, The Stolen Sweets, Rebecca Gates, Pete Krebs, Dirty Mittens, National Flower and Darrell Grant and others.
