Contra Dance Sacramento/Davis February 20, 2009

Join the Sacramento Country Dance Society on Friday, February 20 for a rousing and fun CONTRA DANCE featuring Mavis McGaugh and Band du Jour (Rick D'Onofrio, Terri Hauck and Debra Tayleur).

Contra Dance is an old-time community dance where couples face each other in longs lines up and down the dance floor and dance with every other couple in line. Dances are done to live music, generally Celtic reels or jigs. You DON'T need a partner to contra dance and you don't even have to know how to dance! We provide a free 1/2 hour lesson prior to each dance. Steps are simple with emphasis on patterns rather than fancy footwork and a cller gives cues during the dance alerting dancers to their next moves. Dancing is easy to learn and beginners are always welcome!
