Learn to recognize conflict situations early before they escalate into intractable disputes using proven responses and techniques that work. Bring your live examples to work on through the class.

March 5: Recognize: To Nip It In The Bud!
Explore the definition of conflict with a goal of early recognition so you can nip it in the bud. Develop an understanding of the emotional, mental and behavioral elements of a conflict. Plus, consider different levels of resolution and the possibility of resolving conflict internally through forgiveness.

March 19: Respond: To Set Yourself Up For Success!
Our attitude toward conflict plays a big part in how we respond. Examine deeply held beliefs about the nature of conflict and its role in our lives, before considering the five conflict handling strategies available. Discover sensible approaches to when and where a conflict conversation is conducted.

April 2: Resolve: To Meet The Needs Of All!
For many, this is the heart of the conflict process. Understanding how we earn the right to problem solve through the clearing of emotional tension is key. The essence of the approach articulated in the book, Getting To Yes is conveyed as a simple two-step process. Explore the role of external standards as a guide to fairness, and look at alternatives to agreement, including how strong and weak alternatives impact the power dynamics.

April 16: Reflect: To Keep Learning!
Finalize your understanding of the resolution process, reflect on insights and takeaways, and get any last questions answered.
